Knitting can be very relaxing and a great practice in mindfulness.
Mindfulness is a calm and present awareness of ones body, mind, feelings, and breath. It is attention and awareness to the current moment without judgement.
This weekend I found myself unable to quiet my mind or sit still. So I decided to bring out my knitting to practice mindfulness and be present. My weekend project was these adorable and super soft hand warmers from Purl Bee. The moment I started the project I found my mind quieting down.
It is the repetitive nature of knitting that allows it to be a mindfulness practice.
Live Light Practice:
If you are a knitter take out your knitting and be present. If you are not a knitter sit with mala beads in meditation and use the repetitive motion of moving the beads as your mindful practice.
