Curious about the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali? Wanting to learn more and gain greater understanding of this ancient text? Then Join Mary Reilly Nichols for the Introduction to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali workshop at YogaWorks Soho on July 28, 2012.
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are widely considered the one indispensable text for yoga practitioners. As long ago as the 2nd century BC the essence of the yoga path was set forth in systematic form by the ancient sage Patanjali in this treasured text. In a series of spare and elegant aphorisms, Patanjali outlines the entire system of the philosophy and psychology of Yoga.
In this three hour interactive workshop we will receive an overview of this foundational work and have a chance to consider and celebrate the sutras using asana, pranayama, chant and meditation to experience and incorporate their meaning.
After graduating with a degree in Anthropology from Harvard College in 1977, Mary Reilly Nichols studied in residence for five years in the ashrams of Swami Muktananda. She has absorbed the classical and Tantric yoga canon in depth and has been teaching yoga, meditation and stress management professionally for 30 years.
