Beauty in the imperfections of nature

Find beauty in the imperfections of nature.

Practice Anytime Anywhere

No matter where you are it can be a time to practice yoga. Even if you don’t have a yoga mat. You could be sitting on the subway and just close your eyes to focus on your breath. Or you could be on a business trip in your hotel room and use the bed or a towel on the floor to try legs up the wall.

One of the many beauties of yoga is that it is portable. Anytime can be used to practice breathing and being in the moment. You don’t need to be able to stand on your head, just to sit or stand on your feet and breath.

In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra the first thread or guidance is translated to ‘now the exposition of Yoga is being made’ or ‘now the teachings of yoga’. Yoga is in this moment, not a minute ago or ten minutes from now – but right now.

Live Light Practice:
Stand tall, with your feet firmly grounded on the floor. Be barefoot if possible. Relax your jaw and breath in and out through your nose.

Notice after a few moments if you can deepen your breath and settle in.

Watch the desire to fidget or distract yourself from the moment. Bring the awareness back to the breath.

After at least 15 breaths open your eyes and slowly make your way back to your day keeping your attention on your breathing and the present moment.

Live Light Practice:
For three days in a row let ‘everything is awesome’ be your mantra. Repeat it to yourself throughout the day.
You may notice in moments of discomfort it is easier to breath. See if you mood shifts with the mantra. Or perhaps you find yourself resisting the joy. Explore it with your breath and being present.
